Since her life’s calling was to right racial wrongs we talked about race a lot. But we did talk about other things including the weather. (Really) I’m not sure what you’re talking about being a victim. I never called myself a victim, and neither did she. Like I said, she was very successful, but still faced unfair judgements and racism because she is Black. This isn’t about making me feel better inside, it’s about making the community we all live in better. You mentioned that you were raised in an era of the south where it was impolite to notice differences in people. How do you mean? Like differences in the resources at schools that Black people and white people had? Differences in the way Black people were treated in restaurants? I’m not sure what you are talking about.
